Sometimes teeth look short, even “square” because the gums cover too much of the crowns of the teeth. This may be because the bone around the teeth is actually too close to the junction of the crowns and roots. The treatment to correct this problem is to adjust the gum and bone levels so most of the crowns show. The teeth then look one-third longer than their width. The teeth now have the appearance of adult teeth, not baby teeth.
